500 YEARS AGO	A massive creature later dubbed the Endling collides with Earth, destroying most large landmasses and causing a near-apocalyptic event. Strange creatures dubbed Echoes appear shortly afterwards. Some of them are actively hostile towards humans. Between the Endling's effects and Echo attacks, humanity enters a dark period of death and destruction.
400 YEARS AGO	Research reveals that the physical manifestation of Echoes are a result of emotional energy resonating with the Endling's crystals. Negative sentiment is found to create hostile Echoes called Grudges. The Clementbox is formed by the first Archangel in the ruined remains of New York City, re-christened Locus City, in order to regulate society, control the populace's negative emotions, and suppress Echo activity.
300 YEARS AGO	Society rebuilds itself. Locus City University's continued research reveals that Echoes can be settled or destroyed by discovering their truth. To this end, the Public Safety Bureau is formed from the remains of the city's detective squads to assist the Clementbox. The Logistics & Operations Bureau and the Celadon Medical Cooperative are formally established to consolidate operative and medical resources.
200 YEARS AGO	Clement society becomes increasingly totalitarian and surveillance-focused under a previous Archangel. They claim that preventing crimes that breed ill will will prevent Echoes from being created in the first place. The following one institutes regulations protecting citizens' rights to privacy and autonomy. The Neighborhood Watch is formed. Echo research progresses to the point where some citizens start taking on amicable Echoes as Companions, providing for them and receiving support in turn.
100 YEARS AGO	Locus City's landmass collides with another shore for the first time in centuries. Researchers explain that the Endling's crystals have penetrated all the way to the deepest layers of the Earth's core and are affecting the movements of the now-fractured tectonic plates. The landmass is home to another civilization, which is soon dubbed a country. Clement society has its first cultural exchange in generations; the plates only stay together for a few months before the tides force them apart again.

NOW	A young man named Clement rises to the Archangel's station. Soon after, the previous Archangel passes away.

A huge crystalline being hurtled through the atmosphere towards planet Earth. It shattered into pieces, fracturing landmasses and showering glittering fragments of itself across the land.

Large continents were blown into small islands by the impact. Tectonic plates broke apart where the largest chunks sank into the ocean. The sea boiled with energy, the dormant magma in the Earth's core screamed with new heat, and the world's population halved in a matter of months.

The crystals' power infused itself into the ground, the water, and the air - it made its way into peoples' bloodstreams, altering their DNA, increasing their compatibility with this new source of energy.

Soon after, apparitions manifested in areas with high concentrations of humans. They took myriad forms, some unrecognizable and some familiar, all with different powers and seeming goals - some targeted particular people, some tried to protect humans, and some wrought destruction wherever they could.

These "Echoes" ran rampant and wreaked havoc on the city for the next century.




Small towns were all but eradicated by a combination of the destroyed supply chain and the sinking continent. Despite the danger posed by Echoes, most people had no choice but to move closer to large centers of population in order to survive.

Over the past century, a body of researchers from the city's university had been thanklessly gathering information on Echoes - where they formed, why they acted, what their motivations were, and how, in certain cases, humans were able to dispatch them. They came to the conclusion that they appeared when and where human emotion was forced into suppression, and they categorized them based on the types of emotion they represented.

Even more importantly, they discovered that there were methods to reliably quell the most violent of them.

With this information, a man who would later be known as the first Archangel established an organization called the Clementbox - a small group of the city's best and brightest who were not only equipped to defend the rest of the city's civilians against Echoes, but were armed with the knowledge of how to settle them for good.

Gradually, as Clementbox agents settled Echoes new and old around the city and the university spread awareness among the populace about how to prevent their formation, word spread across the country of a safe haven forming in the ravaged shell of New York City.

The city was re-christened Locus City and the Clementbox became the premiere architecture for justice among its people.

Society began to rebuild itself.























In today's society, justice is meted out by THE ARCHANGEL in the form of publicized interrogation.

7 sinners are chosen to face judgement each season.

The remaining citizens are encouraged to develop their own opinions of whether the perpetrator is INNOCENT or GUILTY.
